Celebrate July!

Wooo Hoo! Time for me to blather on again about how wonderful the galleries are, my favorite time of the month!

Our new Fan Artist of the month lillywmw is also the subject of the newest Fan Art Icontest. Lillywmw has some fantastic images depicting one of my favorite couples, Ron and Hermione. She excels at depicting the strong emotions between the two of them throughout the series. Some of the other images of hers which I enjoy are those which show the Gryffindors in their quidditch robes. The medium she uses expresses colors magnificently, while still showing such small details. Go check out her stuff, and then go icon it!

Last months Icontest went very well with over 18 different submissions using sulkyskrewt's fantastic art. To view all the past winners feel free to check them out here in our forums. Another area of interest in our forum is the new Five Years of Phoenix FanArt thread, which celebrates the five year anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Have a favorite piece of work from that time, go share it with us! Feel inspired to draw something to celebrate the five year anniversary, we'd love to see it!

This month we want to see what you think the one and only Neville Longbottom looks like. Do you picture him a weak and powerless, as he is depicted in the first few books and movies, or do you see a strong and self aware Neville who gets rid of Voldemort's last Horcrux? Share your vision with us in the Draw Neville Longbottom challenge. Maybe your vision will help someone realize what Neville looks like in their own head!

As always please make sure to upload only your own original work that relates to the Harry Potter series to your gallery. If you find art which is not the original art of the uploader please feel free to PM me over at the lounge, user name KimmyBlair, or send along an e-mail to Kimmy@the-leaky-cauldron.org. Also if you want an image of your own deleted feel free to contact me this way so we can get the image deleted, as that bug in the system is still acting up.

The Joy of June!

Hello all!

Well our first Fan Art Icontest went very well! A big thank you to last month's Featured Artist glockgal for allowing us to use her great art! I think the results were fantastic! Check out the forum on June 9th to see what our next challenge is!

Not only will we have a new fan art Icontest challenge up soon, but we have a new Featured Fan Artist! This month's Featured Fan Artist can take your breathe away either with hysterics from one of her humorous pieces, or awe from the amazing detail she includes in her art. I'm proud to announce that sulkyskrewt is this month's Featured Artist! Go check out her work. I know you will find something you like!

Also it's that time again. What time you ask? The time when I remind you guys what is and what isn't allowed to be uploaded to our galleries. Please remember that you can only upload your own original work which relates to the Harry Potter series. Things that can not be added into the galleries include, but are not limited to, Fan Art Images created by others, unmanipulated images released by WB, Fan Art from other fandoms, and personal pictures which do not relate to Harry Potter. If it is found that you have these sorts of images in your albums, they will be deleted. If you continue to upload these images, your ability to upload images here at Leaky's Fan Art Galleries will be disabled.

Spread the Fan Art Love!

Our Leaky Contest Crew has teamed up with our Gallery staffers to form a new contest set to be launched on May 12th. Taking place in our Image and Fan Art Galleries, the IContest will have you creating icons based on some of the fan art images as well as other images from our galleries in future weeks. Starting May 12th, we will ask you to create an icon based from one of the many drawings created by Fan Artist Glockgal. You have until May 19th to submit your icon, at which time voting on those submissions will begin. The following week, on May 26th, the second round of our continuing contest will commence with the newest images in our Image Galleries being your inspiration for that week. Here is a short rundown of the events:
# May 12 – Phase one: Make an icon featuring the art of our Feature Artist, Glockgal.
# May 19 – Submissions due for Phase One, and voting starts.
# May 26 – Phase Two: Make an icon from newly added Images to our Image Gallery.
# June 2 – Submissions due for Phase Two, and voting starts.

All icons should be emailed to icontest@the-leaky-cauldron.org prior to the deadline for that week. As always, anyone over the age of 13 not involved in the judging process may submit work that is PG-13 appropriate. Dobby is Free (to be drawn)

We have some great new things coming to our Fan Art area of Leaky soon! Stay tuned for some exciting new stuff to be coming to the Galleries Forums. Speaking of new stuff, we now have well over 5000 images in the galleries, meaning lots of new images this month! We also have seen over 40 new Fan Artists join up in April.

I am very excited to announce that our Featured Fan Artist this month is non other than glockgal. Glockgal portrays many of the characters from Harry Potter in her Fan art album which contains over 50 images. Go check it out and then go visit the forum and discuss your favorite pieces.

Our galleries are still seeing some small glitches so feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, or if you need images deleted. I can be reached by e-mail at kimmy@the-leaky-cauldron.org, or by PM over at the lounge at KimmyBlair. I also want to ask that all Fan Artists occasionally check their PM boxes over at Leaky, as that is often how we try to get in touch with the artists.

It's raining images!

For all of you who participated in our Draw Ron thread, thank you! It was great to see artists who had drawn Ron for the first time, and others who were posting their art for the first time. This month we are asking for your renderings of James Potter. I hope we get another great turnout!

This month's Featured Fan Artist is another great member of our fandom mary-dreams. In contrast to the black and white stylings of our March's Featured Artist, our April artist's drawings are full of color! She has a fabulous album here at Leaky with over 25 images for you to enjoy.

This month our gallery expanded to over 5000 images! I'm so excited and impressed! I remember when we were just in our early phases with the first few artists, and now we have over 600. Each and every piece is so different from the next, offering another fantastic view of the fandom!

For those of you looking to delete images, feel free to send me a PM over at Leaky, screen name KimmyBlair, or an e-mail to kimmy@the-leaky-cauldron.org. I will work with you to delete the appropriate images as soon as possible. Also if you are having any other problems with your account this is the best way to reach me.

March is here!

I am very excited to announce our latest featured fan artist Tom Scribble! I was introduced to this artist when these galleries first opened, and have been excited to see her album grow to over 20 images in the past year. If you are looking for some fantastic black and white images, go check her album out!

I know personally that how an artist draws my favorite character, Ginny Weasley, is one of the things I always look for when checking out a Fan Artist I had not previously seen. Want to see how different artists represent the various characters in the fandom? Here is your chance! Over in the Fan Art Galleries Forum we will be offering a regular "Fan Art Challenge" for artists to draw some of our favorite characters in the Potterverse. For Fan Artists this is a great opportunity to show off how you draw some of your favorite characters, or to try different characters which you don't often draw. For those of you who only admire fan art, like myself, this is a great opportunity to see how different artists represent your favorite characters! This month we feature Ron Weasley. Head over and either post your rendition, or view the work of others!

Party Time!

Happy Birthday to us! Yesterday, February 3rd, was the Fan Art Galleries first birthday. In the past year we've grown to over 4600 images with 580 artists. I just want to thank all of your for joining and uploading your art. I know I've enjoyed seeing and commenting on it, and always get excited to see a new picture. Want to share your thoughts and memories about the Fan Art Galleries? Feel free to visit our Happy Birthday, TLC FanArt Gallery! thread in the forum.

This month's featured fan artist is a real favorite in the fandom. lberghol has been chosen as the featured artist for February with a fantastic gallery of over 30 comics and colored pieces.

I'll make sure to answer your question as soon as possible. Some Administrative Notes

It has recently come to my attention that many of the members of Leaky's Fan Art Galleries have been uploading the work of other artists without permission, and without credit. I want to remind everyone that this is expressly against both Leaky's Rules and also the Terms and Conditions that all members agreed to upon joining Leaky's Galleries. If you are seen doing this these images will be deleted, and your account may be suspended, or even disabled. If you have any questions about this please feel free to either PM me on the lounge, username KimmyBlair, or e-mail me at kimmy@the-leaky-cauldron.org.

Also if you see art which you suspect is not the original work of the artist who has posted, please again feel free to PM or e-mail me the image, and where you believe it was taken from. We will investigate all of these claims, and act accordingly.

The HP Fan Art community is incredibly diverse and talented. The aim of the TLC FanArt Gallery is to give those artists a venue that is specifically for HP art, and to celebrate such talented fans. Not everyone who enjoys JK Rowling's works can draw--but we can all appreciate the works of those who can. Please help us maintain the integrity of this site by only uploading your own work. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the amazing art that others have shared.

New Year, New Fan Art News!

December was an exciting time with the announcement that our biggest bug has been fixed! As I posted recently the Fan Art Galleries are again open for "newbies" (basically all of those people who had a Leaky Lounge account, but had yet to sign up for a Fan Art account). We now have over 530 artists! Due to this fact we've now surpassed the 4000 mark in images with around 4050.

A new year brings a new Featured Fan Artist! dhesia becomes the first Fan Artist of 2008 here at Leaky. This artist has a TON of great pictures in her album with over 60 images!

Working on a new piece and feel like you need a bit of help? Our Constructive Feedback thread is a great place to post in-progress art for feedback. Go check it out!

Let it snow, Fan Art!

November has seen a lot of new art added to our gallery! We've had around 400 new uploads in the galleries this month, bringing our total to around 3970. Some new stuff this month includes an album full of the winners of the recent contest held by our great contest staff! Go check them out -- they can be found here!

Not only does December bring holidays for many, but also a new Featured FanArtist! LeelaStarsky is our choice for this month. In honor of this she has added some great works to her album, and they are amazing!

We also have a new poll as a present to you "Which type of HP fan art do you prefer to make/see?". Your choice not included? Feel free to head over to the Fan Art Gallery Forums and let your opinion be heard!

What's new for October?

Well lets start off with a technical bit. It is still not possible for those of you with Leaky Lounge accounts to create a new Fan Art account, along with some small glitches. You guys have been great about e-mailing me about these, and other problems, so feel free to send an e-mail to kimmy@the-leaky-cauldron.org or PM me over at Leaky, screen name KimmyBlair, if you find any glitches.

Now those of you who have uploaded during the month of September have been VERY active! We've had nearly 275 new uploads in the galleries this month, bringing our total number of images up close to 3975. Some great new Deathly Hallows fanart graces our pages, go check it out!

With October brings a new Featured FanArtist! Sherant is our choice for this month. They have been very busy this last month uploading some great Deathly Hallows fan art, go check it out!

September Fan Art Contest Deadline Extended

Well I have good news for all of you who wanted to enter the September Fan Art challenge, but haven't had the time yet, the deadline for submissions has changed! The deadline for the contest has been extended to Sunday, October 14th by 11:59pm (EST).

You still will not be penalized if you were not able to add your artwork to the galleries. We're hoping this will be fixed before the new deadline is over, though. Please still e-mail your submissions to contests@the-leaky-cauldron.org

If you have any questions or concerns about this contest, please do not hesitate to PM any of the contest staff or post in the Contest Forum.

September Fan Art Contest

Hey All! I just wanted to remind all the Fan Artists about this month's contest being put on by the Contest Staff. This month they are looking for original artwork based upon Deathly Hallows, something I know that all of you are capable of! This contest is open until 11:59 p.m. EST September 30, 2007 To learn more about this contest, such as the rules, please feel free to go visit the Contest Forum. I hope to see a ton of great entries!

By the way don't worry if you don't have a Fan Art Galleries account! While the rules state you must submit your art by e-mail, and in the Fan Art Galleries, they have edited them a bit for those of you without accounts. The rules have been edited a bit to add

"For the time being, please continue to submit your entries to the contest e-mail address (contests@the-leaky-cauldron.org). No one will be penalized for not submitting their entry to the FA Gallery."

As Alex posted in the previous post, the Galleries are again accepting uploads from those with previous accounts! We do have some small glitches which we are working on, such as the ability to create new accounts, but we hope to have them fixed soon! Uploading Problems Fixed

Hey everybody,

Alex here to tell you that the issues with uploading images to the Fan Art Galleries has been resolved after many weeks of painstaking efforts to fix it. We have been at this for weeks, trying to fix the problem with our uploading system to no avail. Finally we were able to identify the exact problem plaguing us and rectify it in the last day or two.

I, along with the entire Leaky Staff, would like to apologize profusely to all of you who have been waiting to upload your book 7 fan art. We hope we have not pushed you away from our community of fantastic fan artists.

There are still a few bugs around the site that I will be cleaning up tonight (the computer I'm on at work does not exactly give me the ability to fix ALL of Leaky :P) but the biggest one is fixed.

Thank you again for your patience while we worked to fix this problem. And a special thanks to Nick Poulden for identifying the problem.

August Updates!

Well it's official! Deathly Hallows has been released, and there is even more canon for all of the Fan Artist' to draw from!

Unfortunately due to some technical glitches the Fan Art galleries are not able to handle new uploads, or new members, but Super Alex is working on that and hopes to have the Fan Art Galleries back up to their full capacity soon! Once this has been fixed please remember that according to Leaky's Post DH Spoiler rule, Deathly Hallows art can not be posted until August 6th.

With a new month, comes a new Featured FanArtist! For the month of August we have chosen to spotlight reallycorking's art in our galleries! Feel free to follow this link to check it out.

While you are unable to add new art to the galleries, please feel free to head over to our forum. The Constructive Feedback/Critique Look here for Help thread is a great place to post new work for some feedback! We've seen lots of great new work in that thread, go add yours!

Can't wait to see your Deathly Hallows art soon!

Lots of Changes!

Welcome back all! Thanks to Alex the lovely Fan Art Galleries are back up again for browsing of the 473 artists, who have uploaded more than 2950 images!! While there are still some glitches (which you can post about in the The Fan Art Galleries Help Thread) Alex is hard at work making sure you can once again add your great art!

You can see some changes here in the Fan Art Galleries. A new Poll has been put up and the Featured Artist Image has changed to feature the current artist, martintenbones. Go vote and check out the artwork!

Just because the Fan Art Gallery has been down recently doesn't mean the forum was quiet! We have a new thread discussing FanArtists' interpretations of Severus Snape going on here, with a new thread featuring icons of our very own fan artists here. Go check both of those out in our Fan Art Gallery Forum!

Well let us start with the stupendous news for April we have over 307 brilliant, talented artists here in the Fan Galleries.

For this month we have a new brilliant Artist of the Month with Elzora and her Hogwart's Employee Series.

Prophecy Call for Art!

The HPEF event Prophecy 2007 has made a call for art! Fanartists attending and not attending the event can submit art to be displayed in their gallery. All 2D and 3D, fabric, sculpture, and photography artwork will be considered for the gallery. The deadline for submissions is May 15, 2007.Click here for more details.

Welcome to the Leaky Fan Art Galleries

I'd like to welcome all of you to the Leaky Fan Art Galleries. Here you can view hundreds of pictures created by fan artists around the world and even upload your own.

This project has taken months to complete and has been on Leaky's plate since last June. We are finally done and can't wait for you all to enjoy it. There are many features - some of them more obvious than others - but you will love all of them. We have designed this fan art gallery around advice from fan artists on their ideal archive spot. This is a free place for you to browse, upload, and share pictures of and about Harry Potter, in the easiest and most accessible ways possible, with the best features imaginable.

If you look closely on your favorite artist's profile pages (view Frak's, one of my personal favorites) you will notice a small orange button next to the artist's name. If you click it you will see an RSS feed of the artist's latest pictures that you can add to your favorite RSS reader.

Other features include the ability to post announcements, manage your own albums and comments, share your pictures via Flash badges and more.

I would personally like to thank John Noe for his superb design capabilities, Heather Campbell, who's art is scattered throughout these galleries, and ErinRae and all of the gallery girls who helped rigorously bug test these galleries to the max. You all rock!
